Writing suits me better. So my main motivation is to practice storytelling. To have a home for my stories and ideas where I can return to and track how I progress. If I provide anything meaningful to you along the way, all the better.
BBQ smoking as relaxation
After a decade of cooking and countless delicious meals, I dreamed up the romantic notion of outdoor smoking. Balancing fuel and temperature proved far more complex than expected, but that's exactly what I love, learning something new that demands my full attention. When I finally cut into that perfectly smoked meal, surprising both myself and my family, I realized this wasn't just about cooking, but about the joy of diving deep into a process and discovering something remarkable.
Are you allowed to progress slower?
I’m learning to slow down and let go of the rush, accepting that not everything will be perfect, and that’s okay. These days, I’m more curious than anxious, looking for ways to make the season meaningful and enjoy the moments as they come. For me, that means standing by the smoker in the cold, keeping a fire alive while savoring the quiet outside.
